Rats the Musical started off on a stage made to look every part the worst garbage type street you could imagine but just after interval the whole stage had to be transformed into a glittering and spectacular stage reminiscent of the Folies Bergere. This was done by covering a 4 tiered stage with black plastic and joining EVERY piece of garbage to the plastic as well as painting and detailing the plastic itself. During a Blackout in the performance the whole plastic covering was pulled from the back to the front to reveal the glittering stage underneath. This transformation had to take place in about 45 seconds.
